It all started with a trip to Japan in 1982. A young Filipino-Chinese businessman immersed himself in the culture, language, and the food products of the Land of the Rising Sun. After attending several packaging shows, he realized that there was a “Jelly Boom” happening in the country. The Japanese were buying handy and yummy gelatin products. With the support of his father, the young businessman started the jelly business with partners in the Philippines. By that time, he had familiarized himself with every aspect of the jelly manufacturing sector, from product manufacturing, medical research, sanitation and packaging, equipment handling and other machinery up to the distribution process. In 1983, Knotsberry Farm was born. Jelliyum was manufactured in a small rented house on West Avenue, Quezon City, Metro Manila. The market–consumers, parents, professionals, businessmen and children, took to the brand and by 1986 it had already engraved itself in the national consciousness. It has been at the forefront of the jelly industry since then.

A milestone year was in 1994, when “Jelliyum Ice Pop” was released. It is a long plastic tube filled with fruit-flavored yummy-ness. It can be broken in half for sharing. After being launched to the market, Jelliyum Ice Pop was an instant hit . The Jelliyum Ice Pop became popular thanks to its premium taste and quality that only Knotsberry Farm can provide. It is still a bestseller.
